A calendar you read, not just check.
Every month pairs a painting with the month it belongs to. Trumbull's Princeton in January, the Boston Massacre in March, Bunker Hill in June, the crossing of the Delaware in December. The date the painting depicts is marked on the grid below it.
Then the page keeps going. Each month carries the painting's full credit and a documented quotation from someone involved in the Revolution.
The grid itself is filled in. 75 dated entries across the year. Battles, births, treaties, first printings, surrenderes, and every federal holiday.
2027 is the 250th anniversary of 1777. Seven sestercentennials fall on these pages: Oriskany (August 6), Brandywine (September 11), Freeman's Farm (September 19), Germantown (October 4), Bemis Heights (October 7), Burgoyne's surrender at Saratoga (October 17), and the army's march into Valley Forge (December 19). October carries four of them on a single page.
More than a date-keeping tool: a year-long almanac of the war that made the United States, on a wall-sized sheet you'll actually stop and read.
